Where it Once Stood (poem)

This is where it once stood
Atop a land where
age was memories
Where time meant everything

These thoughts hold that place
so grand, so near
was so dear
to my great-grandmother

This house was her heart
The love child born through
the hands of
her husband

But when he was laid to rest
six feet under
She held onto that wooden structure
even more

I knew she was
only holding onto him
Because loneliness never
lingered in her eyes

And she would
rest in the bed of
that silent house
for the rest of her life

She refused to leave even
when she could
no longer stand
on her own

When she died
I dreamt of her
Waving from a house
I did not know of

But she was
waving
She was smiling
She's alright

And the house that was
left on this land
Only started to age
After all those years

Then time went on
and it was gone
A lost treasure of time
now only stands in memories...
