Florida (poem)

I left her in Florida
The girl I fell in love with
I think...

She was the girl
that made me smile
at nights...

She was the girl
that helped me to
love life...

She was the girl
that gave me 
everything...

She was the girl
that left me with
nothing...

As I turn through
the pages of my
mind...
I can't help but
remember time after
time...
How her smile would
bring about mine...
How her presence would
be my sunshine...

These are good memories
going bad...
I'm reminded of someone
I no longer have...

All I can do is
Remember those days
When we laid
When I gazed
Straight into those
beautiful eyes
and I cried
and I cried
Just to get her back
Maybe God would have mercy
and give me that...
Not a moment too soon
Not a second too late
I would hate
to have missed my turn
I'm the one
who just never learns
to let things go
to take things slow

But I left
Wishing I did not have to leave her
in Florida...
